Get to know Helena

My name is Helena Golling. From 2019 to 2023 I studied Environmental Sciences at ETH Zurich and achieved my Bachelor of Science in January 2023. My interest in landscape developments and forests grew steadily. The Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP) enabled me to study for one semester at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences in Ås near Oslo. Having returned to Switzerland I continued with my master's studies at ETH choosing the major of Forest and Landscape Management. It was the course on Foundations of Ecosystem Management with Jaboury Ghazoul and Anne Dray that fascinated me. I decided to do my master's thesis with his group. I was delighted when I heard my thesis was bringing me to Scotland as my ancestors come from Dunbar east of Edinburgh. The strategy game developed by Ivan Novotny for negotiating landscape transitions is based on the Scottish nature and will be the starting point for my master's thesis.
